Hertfordshire makes a lot of sense as a base for your Christmas party this year, even before you get down to the task of choosing a suitable venue. It is, after all, perfectly located, boasting the key transport connections to London and the wider country that will enable all of your intended guests to reach your venue easily. However, it is also a very green and beautiful county in its own right, with no shortage of exciting things to see and do.As for why you may decide to make Manor of Groves your Christmas party venue in Hertfordshire... well, we pretty much have it all as far as venues for big festive celebrations are concerned. We are, for instance, well-located for the region’s airports and motorways, but are also situated in 150 acres of stunning countryside.
Then, there’s our Christmas parties themselves, which are always very special.
Nobody does Yuletide celebrations like we do
The Manor Suite in which we host our Christmas parties here at Manor of Groves is certainly an impressive space, big enough to accommodate hundreds of guests and air-conditioned to ensure everyone can party the night away in comfort. It’s a suite that also boasts its own exclusive bar, entrance hall, cloakroom and toilets.
But it’s what happens within this space during your Christmas celebration that truly matters. For just £41 per head excluding House Wine, or £48.50 per head if you would like half a bottle of House Wine to be included, you and up to 399 other people can revel in a delicious three-course dinner, coffee and mints, before partying the night away with our band and first-class disco.
The bar is open from 7pm on the night, and dinner is served from 7:30pm, enabling you and your guests to savour such delectable menu options as ham hock and pea terrine, chipolata and bacon roll, mushroom, brie and spinach tart and kirsch teardrop with mango coulis.
Or why not go on a dancing journey through time?
However, the above is not the only kind of Christmas party night that you can enjoy here at Manor of Groves. That’s because we are also offering Party Through the Decades nights in our Colonnade Suite, which with all of its Georgian elegance and character, makes for quite the festive party backdrop.
This package is suitable for groups of between 10 and 120 people, is priced from £27.50 per head and enables everyone in attendance to enjoy a memorable two-course plated meal, followed by a disco.

We know a thing or two about how to make Christmas memorable in all of the right ways here at Manor of Groves. After all, our elegant Georgian building already offers the perfect charming setting for some Yuletide magic, and since our conversion into a hotel in 1988, we have been a great place to stay or visit for the Christmas period.
Download our Christmas brochure today, and you will soon discover the wealth of exciting events that we have lined up for this season.
While we are certainly a highly rated venue for Christmas parties, in our latest blog post, we thought we would focus in particular on our legendary Traditional Afternoon Teas, and how we make them even more special at this most important and significant time of year.
More than just an afternoon tea
If you have attended one of our Traditional Afternoon Teas previously, you’ll know just what pleasant occasions they can be. Come along to our Festive Afternoon Tea on Sunday 10th December, however, and you will be in for even more of a treat, in the form of the opportunity to enjoy our amazingly talented local choir as you savour your afternoon tea.
As usual with our Traditional Afternoon Teas, it is recommended that you book in advance for this one. The entry price is £17.95 for adults and £8.95 for children aged between three and 12.
But if you can’t make that date, don’t worry, because we will also be holding Christmas Afternoon Teas in November and December. As you might expect, they represent something of a twist on our usual year-round Traditional Afternoon Teas – we’ve been careful not to mess too much with a formula that we know so many of you love, while still giving everything an appealingly festive feel.
That means you’ll get to enjoy dainty finger sandwiches, freshly made scones, afternoon cakes and mince pies – all for just £17.95 per person. They will be available between 12:30pm and 5:00pm, and you can even enjoy a Christmas Tipple for an additional charge.
There’s just nowhere better to spend Christmas
Naturally, Manor of Groves is here for you as always throughout the Christmas period, whether you wish to stay in one of our well-appointed and spacious rooms for several nights, or take full advantage of our packed events calendar at this extremely special time of year.
Don’t hesitate to download our
Christmas brochure to discover – and begin to book – our complete range of
amazing Yuletide events!

When preparing for festive celebrations, it can really pay to plan ahead. Now is a good time to start preparing for a Christmas party to be held at our Hertfordshire venue. However, what makes Manor of Groves such a special spot if you want your party to have a traditional festive vibe?
You can throw in many festive staples
Many elements of a traditional Christmas get-together have probably already emerged in your mind, including bright Christmas lights and, among the food on offer, succulent mince pies and mulled wine.
We can provide all of that; still, the suitability of our Georgian manor house goes much further than this. Many of the now-familiar festive conventions were present or rooted in the Georgian period of British history that lasted from 1714 until 1830.
You can look to history for inspiration
We can certainly offer opportunities for dancing – which, as we all know from Jane Austen novels and screen adaptations, was a popular Georgian pastime. Christmas pudding – then called plum pudding due to its prominent inclusion of dried plums – was reportedly restored in popularity on the country's Christmas dinner tables after King George I was allegedly served this dish in 1714.
Meanwhile, a Georgian Christmas party's centrepiece would be the "Twelfth Cake". It was given in slices to all household members and was a forerunner of the modern Christmas cake.
A secluded but still accessible historical venue
You are probably already thinking of many people who you would love to invite for a Manor of Groves knees-up. You will likely be heartened to know that our hotel, despite its location in countryside encompassing some 150 acres, can be easily reached from major motorways and airports.
It will take only about 10 minutes for someone on your guest list to drive from Stansted Airport to our beautiful building. Furthermore, up to 200 cars can make use of the on-site parking that we provide for free.
Our website includes a form that you
can fill in and submit to request our 2017 Christmas Brochure for downloading. Whatever
the nature of your own Christmas party, a warm welcome awaits at our private events venue in the UK.

The main objective of your charity event may be to fundraise for your charity rather than give your guests an impressive venue to marvel at, but that doesn’t mean the venue isn’t important. Indeed, it is precisely because your event is what matters most that when you come to choose a charity events venue in the UK, you should ensure yours ticks all of the essential boxes.
Vast experience and capability in holding special events
Here at Manor of Groves, we have a level of experience in holding special events that is unmatched by almost any comparable venue in Hertfordshire. We are continually hosting such events as traditional afternoon teas, hen parties, prom or graduation parties, celebrations of life and – of course – weddings, which is one of our very greatest specialities.
As a consequence, we have also accumulated considerable experience of catering to the most specific requests made by those booking our well-appointed and spacious suites.
If you are holding a relatively modest charity event, for example, there may be enough room in our Colonnade Suite, with its capacity of as many as 150 people. Alternatively, it may be the Manor Suite, with its air-conditioned adaptable space that can accommodate up to 500 guests, that provides the perfect backdrop for your event, not least as it also features such amenities as an exclusive bar, cloakroom, entrance hall and toilets.
Talk to Manor of Groves about your requirements today
Would you like to provide your charity event’s guests with the benefit of succulent and varied cuisine in one of our elegant banqueting suites? What about even giving them to chance to book a spacious bedroom in which to stay overnight, if the event is likely to end late and they may not be able to easily drive home? There’s even a par 71, 6,237-yard golf course at which they may wish to tee off during the day ahead of your event – yes, it’s open to visitors and not just hotel residents.
Whatever you want, need or expect
from your charity’s next event, our seasoned and capable coordinators can
oversee every aspect of it to help ensure its success. It’s just one more
reason why Manor of Groves is such an enduringly popular charity events venue
in the UK.

If you don’t expect to attract more than 150 people to your birthday party, our Colonnade Suite should suit you just fine – it’s a characterful and beautiful space exuding all of the Georgian elegance that may well have led you to consider Manor of Groves in the first place. It has its own exclusive bar, while the stylish Loggia features original neoclassical floor tiles and a glass facade that opens out onto our jaw-dropping gardens.Alternatively, of course, you might have more guests to accommodate and desire a space a little more... ‘contemporary’, rather than offering the genteel, ‘olde worlde’ feel of the Colonnade Suite. That’s why we’re delighted to also be able to offer the Manor Suite, which has air-conditioned adaptable space and an exclusive bar and cloakroom to ensure a thoroughly enjoyable evening for as many as 500 – yes, that’s right, 500 – guests.
Finally, you can also invite guests from almost anywhere...
Are you concerned about hiring a birthday party venue that your best friend from school can’t even reach in time? In the past, we have extensively outlined a lot of the best reasons to hire one of our spaces here at Manor of Groves for your charity event. However, not all of those reasons may necessarily become immediately apparent to you, which is why you may also wish to consider those below.
1. We are a great place for dining
It always helps to choose a charity events venue in the UK that makes it easy to appeal to your attendees through their stomachs. That’s why we have invested so much into ensuring that we provide the best possible gastronomic experience, with private dining able to be arranged in one of our exquisite banqueting suites where your main event may also be held.
2. Your guests have the chance to tee off
If those attending your charity event are arriving early or even staying overnight in one of our well-appointed rooms, they’ve also got the opportunity to try out our challenging golf course. With its par 71, 6,237 yard layout, it’s a fine place for your guests to hone their game, not least as we have a PGA Professional and his team also on hand at all times to provide advice.3. There’s even a Health Club
The importance of a charity event should never be doubted, and it may be that you would like your attendees to have the opportunity to first put themselves in the right frame of mind through a bit of exercise and pampering. That is precisely the opportunity that our attached Health Club affords with its 20-metre swimming pool, steam room, sauna and spa. However, it is only open to members and residents, so you may wish to recommend to your guests that they book one of our rooms.
4. Yes, those rooms are also delightful
We realise that after your charity event is over, your attendees may be feeling just a little exhausted, or intimidated by the thought of having to drive all the way back home. Well, we give them another option – staying the night in one of our wonderfully decorated rooms, designed to ensure the highest standards of relaxation. Our rates are more competitive than you may expect.
5. We’re committed to making every aspect of your event a success
This may be the biggest reason for our continued success as a charity events venue in the UK: our highly seasoned and capable special event coordinators simply know how to make events like yours a success, and put that into practice time and time again. Whatever obscure requirements you may have for your charity event, we always listen and strive to accommodate your demands as far as is practicably possible.Have the above reasons convinced you that Manor of Groves should be your favoured venue for your next charity event? If so, get in touch with the team now, and we will be able to discuss booking a date, including for the suite of our hotel that suits your needs best.

Birthdays seem to come around faster each year for many of us, and sometimes, you may rather not be reminded too much of your increasingly grand age at any party you hold to mark the occasion. However, sometimes, an advanced age is very much a good thing. Yes, that's right: we're referring to the many fine historic birthday party venues in Hertfordshire and in particular, Manor of Groves.
While Manor of Groves is most definitely a birthday party venue for the present day, we can't deny that we are proud of our past, including the many visible signs of that history that you will find throughout our venue.
Georgian splendour and so much more
If you are familiar with different eras of architecture, you will probably detect a Georgian sensibility in the design of our present building - and you would be quite right to do so. However, our building is in many ways rather older than that, having been merely remodelled in the Georgian style in the 1820s by prominent London lawyer Thomas Nathaniel Williams (1781-1841).
Nonetheless, there can be little doubt that for fans of the utmost Georgian splendour, Manor of Groves is one of the finest birthday party venues in Hertfordshire that one could choose. It's a characteristic of our venue very much evident not just from the outside, but also throughout such spaces as our ever-popular and elegant Colonnade Suite, with its Loggia incorporating original neoclassical tiled flooring.
Of course, history isn't our only attraction
Yes, Manor of Groves may look simply jaw-dropping from the inside and out, with all of the period elegance that history buffs with an upcoming birthday could hope for in a venue. That extends to the remarkably picturesque grounds that have long helped to make us an unsurprising hit as a wedding venue, too.
But there are also various, slightly more practical reasons to choose us among the many other acclaimed birthday party venues in Hertfordshire, ranging from the free available on-site parking for 200 cars to our highly professional team, who are committed to ensuring that every aspect of your birthday party with us goes like clockwork.
Quite simply, when the time comes to
celebrate many happy returns, you can't hope to choose a better place to do it
than Manor of Groves.
